In the past year my computer has been hacked three or four times by some very unscrupulous people, and I know who they are.. Windows defender did not defend against these hackers.
I found keyloggers on my computer, and very malicious malware which I've quarantined for evidence. So I bought a  very sophisticated firewall software.

Keyloggers are especially dangerous, as they
record key strokes, and so these people were able to access my passwords to all accounts.
I discovered that using the windows keyboard
foils that software since it can't read any input except from the keyboard itself.

But the new firewall is incredibly good. It's called
OUTPOST Firewall Pro.This software will pick up any signal through any port coming into or out of my system. The keyloggers were removed months ago - and so was the malware - but I was very surprised at the number of attacks that
have occurred since, most benign single scans for open ports, others not so benign, from any sources.

Currently it is impossible for the criminals who were attacking me to get at anything, as all ports are stealthed. The above photo shows the number of attacks in 5 days. It shows the port attacked, the IP of the attacker, and the action taken.

To test this software, I ran all of the tests on this page (PC FLANK)...and it appears like this computer is tighter than Fort Knox. I have to punch in a password locally software, just to upload this article
to my server. So no signals are getting out from VNC type software, keyloggers, or malware. Ive even had to disconnest this terminal from the network, as there is evidence they hacked my router.

Those that like to think like criminals, spies, and paranoids force us to use the tools required to keep them from doing more harm.

It is advised you run these tests at PC flank to test your own system...and if your system fails, get a better firewall, like Outpost Firewall Pro.

THE OUTPOST FIREWALL PRO.
Some of these signals coming in are benign, some are not. Note the scroll bar in near the bottom, the attacks go to the top. All were blocked.
